Logan Rickert Death, Montour County, Pennsylvania: Died Helping a Driver on I-80 Before Sunrise💔

Logan Rickert was 29 years old and from the Lock Haven area of Pennsylvania. Early Monday, he pulled over on Interstate 80 to help a driver he did not know. He did not survive the stop.

It happened Monday morning, October 26, at about 5:54 a.m. The spot was eastbound I-80 between mile markers 224 and 225 in Valley Township, Montour County. The Montour County Coroner’s Office shared those details.

Here is what came first. A pickup truck had been hit by a tractor-trailer earlier. Investigators say the pickup partly ran off the road after that crash. The tractor-trailer that hit it reportedly did not stop.

That left the pickup driver stuck on the side of a highway. Logan saw it, stopped, and got out of his own pickup truck to see if he could help.

While Logan was outside his vehicle, a second tractor-trailer left the road. Investigators have not said why. The truck hit Logan. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The official information shared so far says nothing about Logan’s personal life or the family he leaves behind. What it does say is plain: he was 29, and he stopped for someone in trouble.

The Montour County Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police at Milton are both investigating. An autopsy is pending. Authorities say they will release more information when they can.

For now, two big questions are still open. Why did the second tractor-trailer leave the road? And who was driving the first one that kept going? Investigators have not answered either.

Our condolences go out to Logan’s family and friends.
